Active Ageing – Walking Football (Scunthorpe) @ The Pods

Walking football is a variant of football that is aimed at keeping people aged over 50 involved with football if, due to a lack of mobility or for other reason, they are not able to play the traditional game.

The sport can be played both indoors and outdoors.

Network Café – Brigg @ Brigg Youth Centre

The Network Cafés are a new community-based initiative delivered by staff from the Adult Mental Health Social Work Team. The vision is to offer practical advice and information to people that have experienced mental health problems with support, specific to their social need.

Drop-in session is held Friday from 9am – 12noon at Brigg Youth Centre on Grammar School Road.
We can offer support and signposting relating to:
* Managing mental health.
* Access to adult education or training.
* Returning to work or managing mental health in the workplace.

The Network Café will also be running educational sessions, which staff will book people into via the drop-ins. The sessions running currently in all of the Network Cafés include:

* Living Mindfully – How to introduce mindfulness to our everyday lives.
* Managing stress.

* Motivate Me – A course about goal setting and keeping motivation high.

Please note, we cannot help people complete benefits forms in their entirety, however if people are struggling due to literacy issues, or are in need of some “light touch” support or encouragement with this, we can offer some assistance. Creativities Scunthorpe offers an innovative and outcome focused activities for adults with support needs. Our current client group includes people with Dementia, Autism, Mental Health Needs and Learning Disabilities.

Want to get creative but aren’t sure how? We’ll support you to draw and paint, making collages and mosaics, basically anything you can think of! You can take your art home and enter it into our annual calendar competition.

Every Friday from 9.30am – 12 noon at Unit 4, Suite 2, Park Square on Laneham Street in Scunthorpe.

Penny is a Qualified Fitness instructing ETM. Licensed to teach Zumba, Z kids + Z Kids Jr+Z Step.

All classes are for all abilities and are friendly and fun.

Active Ageing – Walking Netball (Scunthorpe) @ The Pods

Part of the Active Ageing programme.

Walking Netball is a slower version of the game; it is netball, but at a walking pace. The game has been designed so that anyone can play it regardless of age or fitness level.

From those who have dropped out of the sport they love due to serious injury, to those who believed they had hung up their netball trainers many years ago, it really is for everyone.
