The group offers practical and emotional support for people with macular disease, from those living with it today.  It is a national organisation with a Scunthorpe branch. The Macular Society has been supporting people with macular conditions like age-related macular degeneration (AMD) for over 25 years. We offer information and support and we fund research to find a cure. Through the generous donations of our members and all our supporters, our services are free. The Scunthorpe branch  support each other, have parties, invite guest speakers, go out for dinner and more.

Runs every 4th Monday of the month from 10am to 12pm at The Mind Centre on Fenton Street, Scunthorpe. (If it fails upon a bank holiday it is held the week before)

Interested people are welcome to just turn

Meeting other people with macular disease can help you understand your condition, come to terms with sight loss, share information about treatment and ultimately stay independent. Every group is different from inviting guest speakers, run social events, arrange outings and holidays, fundraise, campaign and work with local eye care professionals.

Around 20 of the groups (called W@M groups) are aimed specifically at younger, working-age people with macular conditions. And if attending a group in person isn’t for you, our virtual Skype groups give you the opportunity to talk to other people affected by macular disease online, without leaving home.
